          First years

          Jean-Michel Basquiat was the first of Matilde Andrades' three children.

          He had two sisters, Lisane, born in 1964, and Jeanine, born in 1967. His father was a Haitian accountant of respectable economic solvency and his mother was a Puerto Rican graphic designer of great prestige in her profession. Jean-Michel grew up in a broken family environment, his parents divorced and because of this situation he had to change schools many times.
