Pakistani police officer (1959–2010)
Safwat Ghayur (14 July 1959 – 4 August 2010) was an additional Inspector General of the Police Service of Pakistan, serving as the commandant of the Frontier Constabulary in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.[1] Renowned for his leadership in the fight against terrorism, he was tragically killed in a suicide attack by the Pakistani Taliban.
Biography
Safwat Ghayur was the nephew of Pakistan Movement activist SardarAbdur Rab Nishtar, a cousin of the former Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Owais Ahmed Ghani and a cousin of former Chief of Armed forces General Abdul Waheed Kakar.[citation needed] His brother-in-law, Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, was twice the Chief Minister of the erstwhile pakhtunkhwa, as well as Interior Minister of Pakistan.[citation needed].
